INITIATIVES

MTIC DESIGN PROJECT

The MTic-design knowledge exchange program seeks to create professional design knowledge  for the Netherlands and Latin America by developing innovative products and knowledge  together.

Dutch designers will team up in duos with designers from Colombia and Guatemala. each duo  will design an interior product in a long-distance collaboration. The product will result from the  fusion of the different methodologies, approaches and aesthetics based on their (design)

culture and personal style. Each duo will work with one of three themes, respectively aiming at societal utility, cultural awareness, and consumer  attractiveness.

MTIC design is an initiative of Bas Sala and

Marie-Thérèse Woltering.

We Love Public Space Festival

With the 'We Love Public Space' Festival (WLPS) we celebrate public space and pay tribute to  everyone who is professionally involved in city making. The aim of the Festival is to establish  an open conversation about how city makers deal with present and future developments that  determine the design and use of public space.

The WLPS Festival is broad-oriented and freely accessible. An open and dynamic platform for  the exchange of knowledge and experience between city makers; from architect to artist, from  designer-to-urban planner.

The interdisciplinary team behind the WLPS festival consist of Bas Sala (designer, Studio Bas  Sala), Floor van Ditzhuyzen (architect, de Ontwerpwerkplaats) and Ron Blom (artist, Ron Blom  arts and media). We share a fascination for public space; we love public space. Team WLPS is  representative for the various disciplines and diverse views, approaches and strategies that are

featured at the Festival; for city makers, by city makers.

The Yellow Building

Studio Bas Sala is one of the five parties who initiated the redevelopment of the Yellow building, located in the ZoHo area in Rotterdam. Together with Stipo, SPIN city developers, Van Schagen architects, KCR and the owner, we co-developed a concept for this former office building. Step by step, we and our fellow tenants transform the building into an ideal surrounding and working environment for co-creation. with the goal to create a place that has a strong sense of communication and collaboration.
