STUDIO BAS SALA

Studio Bas Sala is an interdisciplinary design agency in Rotterdam. We design and realize innovative projects in public space, products and interiors. Interactivity and research by design play an important role in our work.

Our designs invite you to sit, play, think, do nothing and often evoke a smile. Interdisciplinary collaboration (with professionals and non-professionals) and high-quality products play a central role in our work. Many of our projects are self-initiated and focused not only on the physical design, but also on the way they are used and how they can have added value other than financial.

Projects initiated by the Studio include the Hefpark in Rotterdam, an adaptive community park and the redevelopment of the Yellow Building in the Zomerhofkwartier in Rotterdam. A building in which makers, doers and creators work together on the theme of the city.

Bas Sala is initiator and design coordinator of the Mtic-design knowledge exchange program. A knowledge exchange program on product design in which Dutch designers together with Latin American designers design products and use the knowledge gained in the co-creation process  parts.

Previously, Bas Sala was a teacher and head of the Interior Architecture department of the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.
